Through a series of videos, our medical instructors shed light on certain orthopedic conditions and their treatments. In this eighth installment, Professor Brigitte Jolles-Haeberli, a specialist in orthopedic surgery and traumatology, discusses hip osteoarthritis.
Professor Brigitte Jolles-Haeberli, a surgeon specializing in knee and hip replacement, is also a professor at the University of Lausanne-CHUV and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL). In 2013, she opened her medical practice on Avenue Louis-Ruchonnet in Lausanne and practices her surgical specialties at the Bois-Cerf Clinic.
Drawn to medicine and engineering, Professor Brigitte Jolles-Haeberli benefited from advanced multidisciplinary training. In 1990, she obtained an engineering degree from EPFL in microtechnology, and then in 1995, the Swiss federal diploma in medicine and her doctorate in medicine from the University of Lausanne.
First head of clinic then senior physician in the university department of Prof. P.-F. Levraz in 2002, she became head of the knee and hip prosthetic surgery unit of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology at CHUV in 2008. Her research, carried out both in the fundamental field and on the clinical level, has earned her several prestigious awards, including the Nokia-Maillefer Prize (EPFL), for the author of a scientific work, and the Venel Prize, the highest scientific distinction of the Swiss Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology.
