Dr. Biljana Jovanovic
Specialist in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery and hand surgery
Born in Kraljevo, Serbia, Dr. Jovanovic obtained her medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Belgrade. She soon came to Switzerland to complete her postgraduate training.
After obtaining the title of Doctor of Medicine from the University of Lausanne in 1996, under the direction of Prof. R. Mayer, she obtained the title of FMH specialist in general surgery.
Passionate about small practices and a perfectionist, she discovered microsurgery and its application in hand surgery. It was in this field, in which she later became a specialist, that she also discovered wrist pathologies. Logically, this led her to further training in wrist surgery and arthroscopy, a technique she still practices regularly.
Another facet of Dr. Jovanovic is her aesthetic sensibility. As a surgeon, she felt most at home in plastic surgery. It was therefore a natural progression for her to complete a third postgraduate training program and obtain her specialist certification in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery.
Aside from internships, particularly in Paris and Athens, she completed the majority of her training in French-speaking Switzerland. After working for several years as Chief Physician at the Longeraie Emergency Clinic, training future specialists, she established her own private practice in 2006 within the CCMEL (Centre de Médecine et de Médecine Léman) with Dr. N. Favarger. She operates at the Cecil and Bois-Cerf clinics, where she performs hand surgery, wrist surgery (open or arthroscopic), as well as plastic and cosmetic surgery.
With an inquisitive and open mind, Dr. Jovanovic does not neglect other approaches, even non-surgical ones, that can help and relieve her patients. After discovering the benefits of carbon dioxide used in a kind of "dry spa treatment" in Slovenia, she established a carboxitherapy center in Lausanne, a first in Switzerland.
The results of this complementary treatment, which, thanks to the increase in tissue oxygenation, has an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect, are very promising in patients suffering from rheumatic pathologies, algoneurodystrophy (or Sudeck's disease), chronic pain on polyneuropathy, arterial insufficiency, as well as pain related to sports trauma or post-operative pain.
